Red and White Eye Candy . . .

I was lucky enough to attend the

Red & White Quilt Show in NYC today.

Just breathtaking!

It was so lovely to hear everyone gasp

as they walked into the main room of the Armory.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves . . . .

A wonderful time had by all.

I really hope they are going to make

a coffee table book!

And I hope this becomes a travelling show

50 and Fabulous!!!

Yup, today is my 50th birthday . . .

I spent this last weekend with tons of women I love.

We went into NYC on Saturday for a day of fun and frivolity . . . There were fabulous drinks . . .
Some naughtiness . . .
Much, much laughter . . .
And luckily my camera battery died here . . .

The rest will be legend, but I can tell you this,

on the train ride home the whole train full

of passengers sang me happy birthday!!

How fun is that?? Okay 50's bring it on!

Urban Inspirations Quilt Show

No sewing this weekend . . .

But I did get to see a wonderful

Quilt Show in NYC today.

The Empire Quilters hosted their show at FIT.

These are some of my faves . . . .

No too many words today, I am worn out!

In a good way, more on that tomorrow . . .

What did you do on this lovely Sunday??

Mug Rugs?

I might a little late to the party on this one . . .
I whipped up a few mug rugs this week.
I have a few guests arriving this weekend with March birthdays,
and I thought these would be perfect gifts.
I really prefer to make a handmade gift when I can.

After I made these . . .
I realized that I HAVE made some mug rugs before,
but I didn't realize they were mug rugs.

I made these about 20 years ago when I had
leftover blocks and I didn't want to put them in the scrap bin.
(And I didn't know about leftover quilts!)
These have been drawer liners for quite a while.
They need to be liberated.

This is the quilt I made 20 years ago that produced my first mug rug.
It is also the first quilt I ever hand quilted.
I have been a bright color girl for a long time.
I don't think that's going to change!
How about you? Do you mug rug??

Sunday Projects #19

What a great sunny weekend!!
Pictures outside!!

I finished my Leftovers quilt today.
The scrappy binding looks wondeful.
I am so pleased with the way this quilt came out.

The back is pieced with a sheet I bought a TJ Maxx.
It is a Ralph Lauren, very soft.
I was worried at first that it might be hard to use,
but after a little finangling, it was fine.
I did get a couple of puckers, but I don't tend to
obsess on those kinds of things.

I had a sewing companion this weekend.

I took care of Mocha this weekend, Gidget's little angel.
This dog is spring loaded and can jump up to my waist!

I knew I needed to tire her out big time.

After an hour long walk, she was toast!

She spent most of the afternoon sleeping in her little bed right behind me while
I finished a few things.
I sewed and cut up a bunch of blocks for
a new disappearing nine patch . . .

And I made a few blocks for Beth who is collecting them
for a quilt to donate to Japan relief.
They were very easy to put together, so if you have some time,
jump over to her blog, see what the specs are,
and pop one or two in the mail to her!

on a another note . . . .

I went to a fundraiser Friday night,
Diana Ross.
We had a wonderful time.
Enjoyed the costumes . . .
The music . . .
Her band . . .
The girl still has got it going on!!
What did you do on this bright sunny first day of spring???

Happy St. Pat's Day!!

Yes I'm Irish, no I don't drink green beer . . .

For St. Patrick's Day I thought I would show
my finished Aloha Quilt.
All batiks, it is a variation on the
log cabin design.
A view from my second floor deck.

I love this! Just wish the sun was shining.

I did a piano key border.

A closer view . . . .

The back. The kid is holding it up.

Look! Something taller than the kid!

This quilt is queen size and I must admit

that I slept with it on my bed last night before it goes to it's new home.

I read somewhere that you if you sleep under

a quilt before you give it,

it retains the love you feel for the person receving it.

Corny? Yeah probably, but throw me a bone here.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!!
